ABOUT
Our mission is to serve as a social model working toward building a positive community for
African American girls in Mississippi. Reading is our foundation, but we have partnered
with other organizations in the community.

BGR is a year around book club that meet twice per month, serving Winston county. The girls participate in a variety of activities, educational field trips, visited by community leaders, and engage in
community service work. The girls also participate in STEAM activities.
THE MALACHI PROJECT
The Malachi Youth Mentoring Program was founded to empower youth to becoming responsible and productive citizens in their communities.

Black Girls Read (BGR) Mississippi is a component of THE MALACHI PROJECT YOUTH MENTORING PROGRAM, a local Mississippi nonprofit Directed by Dr. Melissa Davis.
